Shoes: The Definitive Accessory for Women

Many women regard shoes as the most important item of clothing in their closet, and with good reason! Regardless of what she is wearing, if a woman isn’t happy with her shoes she will struggle to be content with her entire outfit. Whether wearing a pair of tennis shoes, sandals or a strappy set of heels, the right pair of shoes can truly make an entire outfit.

Let’s look at a few examples of women’s shoesin fashion. A great example of how essential the perfect shoes are to completing a look can be seen in how well they complement a little black dress – a classic staple every woman should have at the ready. The LBD look all depends on the right kind of shoe to put the final touches to a simple yet elegant look. To make a bold statement, a red peep-toe pump with a large heel may just do the trick. For women wishing to give the illusion of longer legs, a flesh-toned leather closed-toe with a smallish heel can do wonders. Not in the mood for heels? A black, sequined ballet flat can finish off the little black dress whilst minimising pain. The possibilities are almost endless – the dress remains the same, but a change of shoe can alter the look over and over again.

Aside from dressing up for a night out, shoes can complete every outfit for any occasion. A woman will wish to bring a sense of professionalism when going to the office, along with a hint of femininity. Even when wearing a stuffy suit, a sharp pair of kitten heels can really liven up the look. Post-work, a woman may wish to go to the gym, requiring yet another change of shoes. The appropriate pair of sneakers or running shoes can really make or break a work out, so it certainly pays to invest in a pair that fit well whilst looking good.

Shoes can also be commonly misperceived to be expensive. However, if a pair does stretch the budget, this gives the owner more reason to take good care of them. Keeping them boxed, or providing a box if they didn’t come with one can add a whole new lease of life to a collection of shoes. Whilst women might be tempted to display their collection on shelves or racks in their closets, they must ensure that they are uncluttered, inaccessible to pets, dusted and well organized. Otherwise, be sure to keep them boxed, particularly for expensive or delicate pairs.

Some women love shoe shopping whilst some loathe it. Regardless of this, almost every woman can appreciate finding that perfect pair. Remember to break in a new pair of shoes to spare the pain many women feel when buying a new pair of shoes. Even wearing a new pair of shoes around the house for a few hours can significantly reduce the pain of breaking them in outdoors!

Budget Conscious Buyers Spend Less on Cheap Jewellery but More on Diamonds

According to a survey by Visa, festive spending budgets were down approximately 33% on previous years. When once consumers looked to credit to see them through fiscally challenged festive times, 2011’s spendthrifts pulled up their socks through, saved hard and only aimed to spend what they could afford.
A key part of spending focussed around sensible investment. The jewellery industry is a great example of this. Consumer spending in the likes of Hatton Garden and Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter indicated less inexpensive items being sold, i.e. watches, costume jewellery etc. Instead, buyers opted to spend their hard earned cash on diamond rings, loose precious gems, quality diamond earrings and so on. In investment terms, they chose to put their money into something with guaranteed long-term value.
Buying diamond engagement rings over the 2011-2012 festive shopping period was also very popular, with proposing partners choosing to put their festive budgets together with engagement ring savings in order to afford the most opulent jewels. Amazing pre-Christmas deals from jewellers like Hatton Garden’s QualityDiamonds.co.uk boosted buying power and provided the perfect festive backdrop for thousands of prospective fiancés.
Whilst the Visa survey found around 88% of shoppers intended to spend less, U.K-based voucher company, VoucherHeaven.co.uk, reported 10% of consumers had set money aside for one lavish gift (either for themselves or a loved one) Aside from happy investment in sensible long-term items, it seems the real festive winners were household pets, with pet gift budgets remaining the same or rising for 60% of consumers.
